In order to facilitate the recruitment of overseas skilled trades workers into the Canadian workforce, the Federal Skilled Trades program was created. To address the growing labor shortage of skilled trades workers in Canada, this category has been developed.
The following requirements must be met to qualify for this program :
- The Canadian Language Benchmark5 must be achieved in speaking and listening, and the Canadian Language Benchmark4 must be achieved in reading and writing.
- If you have worked in a skilled trade in the past five years, you need to have at least 2 full-time years of experience.

Hold employment offers from up to two companies in Canada for a minimum of one year or have a Certificate of Qualification from a government agency.

Having performed the essential duties for the occupation, demonstrating their skills and experience.
